Hope of Motherhood is a nonprofit maternity & postpartum support organization located at 1855 Wells Rd, Suite 2, 2nd Floor, Orange Park, Florida. We serve families throughout Clay County, including Orange Park, Fleming Island, and Middleburg, and welcome families from surrounding communities across Northeast Florida.
Support Starts During Pregnancy
Pregnancy can be exciting, but it can also bring a lot of change. Your body is changing, you’re making decisions about your care and birth, preparing for a baby, and sometimes navigating worries or questions that the people around you may not completely understand. Your support circle can grow through the connections you make during pregnancy—another expecting mom you meet at a prenatal class, a local moms’ group, or simply finding places in your community where you feel welcome and connected.
Support doesn’t always mean you need help with a problem. It can be having someone to talk to, sharing experiences with another mom who gets it, learning something new together, or simply having somewhere to go and people to connect with.
Those relationships matter during pregnancy, and they don’t have to end when pregnancy does. As you move into postpartum and motherhood, some of those same friendships, groups, and familiar places can stay part of your support circle whether this is your first or fourth baby!
Finding Connection in Your Community
Finding your community doesn’t have to start with needing help. Pregnancy is a great time to explore what’s available around you. Look for local moms’ groups, pregnancy and postpartum groups, prenatal classes, play cafés, library programs, and community events. Follow local websites and social media accounts that share family and motherhood-focused events happening each week. Save groups, events, resources, and accounts that interest you—and don’t be afraid to try something new.
Some of these connections may become part of your pregnancy now, while others may become more meaningful after your baby arrives. Either way, knowing what’s available makes it easier to find connection, activities, information, or support when you need it.
Start Finding Your Local Support Circle
Local events & activities: Fun 4 Clay Kids • Jacksonville Mom
Pregnancy & motherhood community: Bloom Birth Co. Jax
These are just a few places to start. Your maternity provider, local hospitals, libraries, childbirth educators, lactation professionals, and community organizations may also offer classes, groups, and events where you can connect with other mothers and families.
When You Need More Than Your Everyday Support Circle
Friends, family, other moms, and community can be incredibly valuable—but sometimes the support you need goes beyond what the people around you can provide.
If you’re struggling emotionally during pregnancy or postpartum, feeling overwhelmed, or feel like you need additional support, you don’t have to figure out where to turn on your own. There are organizations specifically designed to help pregnant and postpartum families connect with appropriate support and resources.
Postpartum Support International offers peer support, online support groups, resources, and connections to perinatal mental health professionals for families during pregnancy and postpartum.
National Maternal Mental Health Hotline provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for pregnant and postpartum families. Call or text 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) to connect with a trained counselor.
Knowing when you want more support—and reaching for it—is just as much a part of creating your support circle as finding the people and places that make everyday motherhood feel a little more connected.
